I'm going to give you the same answer I give everyone who comes into
our store asking about used stuff... You don't want used *anything*,
but especially not laptops. Laptops tend to get beat up pretty hard,
plus they have heat problems even when they are working right (like
when the heatsinks aren't full of lint, hair, etc.), so the average
laptop is *lucky* to make it to 3 years without a major hardware
problem, and, again, *lucky* to make it 5 years before they just are
beyond repair.

The little ultra-portable laptops are worse, because they're even more
proprietary (even harder to find parts), even more cramped for
airflow, etc.

Oh, and since we're talking about laptops... Some of you might be
interested to know that we can now sell *and service* Lenovo laptops
(including Thinkpads). Of course, we're still doing out-of-warranty
repairs on pretty much anything (although Dells aren't repairable half
the time), but now we can do in-warranty repairs for Lenovo.
