I was thinking perhaps someone could load you a PC card with FW/USB2  
ports.  I used to have a FW PC card.  Worked great.

How are you getting SBM loading if you only have one bay for a floppy  
and CD?  Is it off the HDD?

Another thing to try is the Bootable CD Loader (BCDL).  Google or  
there's a floppy image of BCDL in the ByteWorks file section:
