i was trying to install xsane-gimp (plugin) via YUM. i recieved a
message from the terminal that it was installed, but when i try using it
with gimp, i get the xsane program loading up and it tells me that there
is a problem. same problem i looked up on the internet; failed to open
device, invalid argument. link =
http://www.sane-project.org/man/sane-artec_eplus48u.5.html
so that tells me it should work. so i went to RPMfind.net and found
some back/front-ends, long story short i downloaded xsane-grip,
backends, frontends, and they were all installed except xsane-grip which
YUM claimed was installed. when i tried to install xsane-grip RPM -ivh
and -Uvh told me the following:
[root@localhost rpm-noarch]# rpm -Uvh xsane*.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.4) is needed by xsane-gimp-0.99-2.2.i386
libcairo.so.2 is needed by xsane-gimp-0.99-2.2.i386
libpangocairo-1.0.so.0 is needed by xsane-gimp-0.99-2.2.i386
[root@localhost rpm-noarch]# yum install xsane-gimp

So i have the rpm installer telling me that i am missing libraries
(lib.so.6 (glibc), libcairo.so.2, and libpangocairo-1.0.so.0), and i
have YUM telling me it is installed, and i have GIMP choking. I tried
searching for glibc, found it, wouldn't install. from what i'm seeing,
it doesn't look like lib.so.6 comes in glibc anyway. anyone know where
i can find it?
