Linux MP3 Players

Hey all,  I'm looking to buy a portable MP3 player.  I could just get one
and just use Windows to transfer files,  but I would like to use it under
linux too.  Does anyone have an MP3 player that successfully connects to
linux?  I'm still undecided whether I want a hard drive model like 20GB, or
something small with upgradeable RAM chips like CD or compact flash, so
suggestions on anything are welcome.
