Eww.  I don't think you can even talk to something like that under
Linux.  And, more importantly, I can't for the life of me imagine why
you'd want to.

Apparently you can get MS Proxy to do socks or something for real OSs,
but it just seems pointless when...

My thoughts exactly.  Setting up masquerading is trivial.  You also
can, if you want, do some much more interesting things than *just*
masquerading (like redirecting ports on the firewall to internal
boxes).
