PPP to connect to local ISP...

I had a quick question about dialing up through Linux to connect to a local
ISP. I'm running Slackware and I ran the pppsetup program. I thought I
installed it all correctly and everything...but when I try to connect
(using the ppp-go command), I get a couple of errors:

1.) tcgetattr: I/O error
2.)Exit

Any ideas as to what might prompt these? Thanks folks!
