For a server, always go with top-of-the-line disk subsystem, memory,
and cache. Processor can be anything, as long as it can keep up with
the disk, network, etc., assuming you aren't doing any heavy
computation. NT and Linux both benefit from the same hardware boosts,
although whatever hardware you think you need for a Linux box, go
half-again higher (at least) for a NT box to do the same job. (The
overhead of NT is insane.)
Right now, I'd probably go with something along the lines of what I'm
turning osiris into... Asus TX97 motherboard, loaded with RAM &
cache, K6/233, Diamond Fireport 40 SCSI card (Symbios 53c875),
ultrawide SCSI drive, etc.
