Unrelated specifically to Linux but cool... There are a group of ham 
radio operators on their way to Peter I Island in Antarctica for an 
expedition to make radio contacts from this very rare location. They 
have a very cool looking penguin as a part of their logo...

And of course their site has a link to a penguin web cam where you can 
observe a colony of Gentoo penguins from the O'Higgins German Research 
Station on the Antarctic Peninsula
