I've setup ubuntu on my laptop and it runs fine, until power management spins down the drive and then anything tries to write to the drive.
I turn acpi off, and then it boots and beeps constantly through the speakers (its the default "welcome" sound stuck in a loop) and it never completes booting.
Any ideas?
The notebook is gateway 7422 a64 3400+ . I am using ubuntu 5.10 i386 .
This has to be something obvious that I am missing.
Thanks
Tim Hart
