At what point does it crash?
What on-screen messages do you see?

Oh, tons of things can kill the boot!
But where, what you see, etc... -- that context -- makes all the
difference.  ;->

Does it get to the point of mounting the /var filesystem?  If so, the
messages immediately _before_ the next "syslogd x.x.x: restart." would
be helpful (which would be messages before the crash and the subsequent
reboot).
