Re: Round two mPlayer

I have a file on my Desktop named IraqiInsurgents-takeout1.wmv.

I found that for some reason the installation created a the following
path for the codecs:

        /usr/local/lib/codecs-dir

The documentation says the path should be:

        /usr/local/lib/codecs

I changed things around so that the path and directory contents matched
the documentation. No joy.

The docs say to install the codec packages before the compile. To wit:

Win32 codecs: If you plan to use MPlayer on x86 architecture,
you will possibly need them. Download a codec package from our
codecs page and put the codecs in /usr/local/lib/codecs BEFORE
compiling MPlayer, otherwise no Win32 support will be compiled!

        http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/install.html

I used no source code nor was aware of doing any compiling. Was there
some "compiling" that is linux-speak for installing?

As to the win32.dll package, I believe the answer is yes. These win
related dlls appear in the codecs directory:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 409720 Sep 15 23:21 wma9dmod.dll
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 410216 Sep 15 23:21 wmadmod.dll
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 773368 Sep 15 23:21 wmsdmod.dll
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 486504 Sep 15 23:21 wmspdmod.dll
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 807032 Sep 15 23:21 wmv9dmod.dll

-rw-r----- 1 root root 93184 Sep 15 23:21 wnvwinx.dll

The complete codecs listing it at the bottom of this message.

The following is the output of ls -l in /usr/local/lib.

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Oct 7 20:49 codecs
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   14 Sep 16 00:05 codecs-dir -> /usr/lib/win32

Here's the output
