OT: degrees, practical knowledge, et al (was Re: speakers for internship meetings)

16.  You can do dual enrollment in high school with the permission of
your guidance counselor.

Actually, it's something akin to being cached in memory.  AFAIK, bash
(and the kernel?) is smart enough to know not to run something if the
executable can't be stat'd.  That is, if it doesn't reside on a
filesystem, it won't run with no care as to how much memory it may be
eating up.  Then, it does some comparing to ensure the cache's being
up to date, etc.

Oh, also, FWIW, if your high school has *any* sort of a decent
technology (read: NOT business) program, get involved with it.  I'm in
fourth-year electronics at OTHS right now, and we're tinkering around
with neat robotics stuff in class that involves fine servo control and
sensor data manipulation.  Practical applications of
computer-controlled circuits and digital<->analog stuff too.

... those Visual Basic classes that the business department offers
just don't cut it. :)
