The problem is that you are behind a NAT device. So when the peer asks for your IP address, you're giving them a non-routable 192.168 or 10. address. So they can't reach you when they try to send you something.

You need to tell the remote peer and the tracker what your "real" IP address is.

There are options for the command line BT clients to do this, as well as to set it up within Azureus.

BTW, Azureus is a great BT client. It's written in Java, so it works fine in Linux. It also has a nifty PeerGuardian plugin to refuse to establish links to IP addresses you probably don't want to share with anyway. Those people are free to find content elsewhere. It's your machine and you can choose who you want to connect with over the Internet. :=)
