Mozilla Firefox Bug?

Hello,
I'm currently running debian unstable and just installed Firefox 1.0.  I
used to use Mozilla and had a script that was set as my default browser
and would open any link I clicked in a new tab instead of getting the
"Select Profile Screen."  I am trying to do the same thing with Firefox,
and according to the man page and links I've read, it is the same
command for firefox, yet it doesn't work.  Trying from the command line
doesn't work either:

 mozilla-firefox -remote "openURL(www.google.com,new-tab)"

If I leave off new-tab or use new-window instead, it works correctly
(opening in the current window or a new one).  Googling hasn't helped
yet and I am looking for suggestions.
