I wouldn't be so sure.  Apparently Conectiva (the main apt-rpm
developers) is working on yet another rpm front-end.  AFAIK they
haven't given any details, but this means they aren't really
interested in fixing apt now.

I'm told that the Debian people are only doing a pure 64-bit x86-64
distribution right now, which leads me to believe they haven't found a
solution to the apt multilib problems either.  :-/
