Re: chmod + chown
actually i used straight win32 ports. i think the url is
unxutils.sourceforge.net, or maybe unixutls (its missing a letter).
cygwin is a bit much for my needs ;} (and i have a tendancy to want to
install about 1-2 gigs when i install it ["oh i might want to use this
obscure worthless tool someday"])
i have thought about the rootless x server though. i want to install it,
but i cannot for the life of me come up with an actual need for it (i try to
conserve space on the laptop, i only allotted 15 gigs for windows). i only
have a single desktop machine that boots into xp, and that is only for the
occasion i need to do some video capture (the gatos guys dont support my
aiw9600pro yet, but i expect they will soon enough). that machine doubles
as my file server/linux workstation so it is rarely in xp.
that leaves the laptop. 40 gig drive, 15 of it for xp, 3 for a shared fat32
partition, 1.??? gig swap, rest divided between a 10 gig for fedora core and
a 7 or so gig for archlinux (which i think i will be getting rid of and
installing gentoo as arch doesnt impress me as much as i was told it would.
i personally think they should have used apt for package management instead
of rolling their own "pacman" tool)
