Doc,

Are you saying the analog modem in my work laptop
should have been able to establish and keep a good
connection through the ADSL filter? SBC is using my
existing copper to run the ADSL through. I'm more than
sure it's probably pieced together, though I have
little to no trouble connecting via ADSL, just one
little analog modem.
