In 7.3, don't check off the "firewall" anything option - it just puts ipchains 
on there in iptables compatibility mode.

Then when you're in the package selection part of the install - de-select 
EVERYTHING. Then only the bare OS will install.

You will have to go get the apt rpm and install that. Then setup your apt 
repository in /etc/apt/sources.list and off you go!
