Subject: [DISCUSS] Computer Recycling
There is an option to clear out long dead computers and other
electronic equipment this weekend. I was unable to find details
on any fees, but it looks this is the likely price structure:
Most electronics items will be collected and recycled at no charge.
Handling fees of $10 will be charged for computer monitors, while
televisions will be assessed a $15 fee.
An announcement for the St. Louis event:
Aug. 2 & 3, Fri. & Sat., 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., St. Louis, Small
Electronics Recycling Event. Many electronic items contain lead and
mercury which are harmful to the environment if not disposed of
properly. If you've been holding onto old or unwanted consumer
electronics, this event is your chance to help ensure that these
materials are handled correctly. Bring: Computers, monitors, printers,
TV's, cell phones, fax machines, stereos, camcorders, VCR's. DO NOT
bring: microwaves, smoke detectors, large appliances. Held at Best
Buy, 15678 Manchester Rd., corner of Manchester and Clarkson. For
info, call the St. Louis County Dept. of Health, (314) 286-9200.
The best links I could find were not the most helpful:
