location for xfree res settings

where would i go looking for xfree resolution settings?  i installed redhat
7.2 and during the install i tested 1152x864x24bit and it worked fine, but
when i rebooted and xfree kicked in for login the display was corrupt

id like to force it to 1024x768 without having to reinstall if at all
possible


on a side note i sent this originally from an email thats not registered
with the list on accident
