As most of you probably know, web.lanscape.net, the server that is the
home for SILUG, EASUG, LUCI, and a bunch of other stuff, is only a
486DX2/66.  It performs amazingly well.  (Not so amazing when you are
used to the performance of Linux, but still pretty cool.)  There are
times when I'd like it to be a bit faster, and since I recently got
ahold of some more hardware, I thought it would be pretty cool to do
some upgrades.  I'm only lacking a few (essential) things, but,
unfortunately, I can't afford the extra hardware needed.  SILUG (as a
group) has a bit of money that will be used, which will quite likely
cover the essentials (that I don't already have or can't cover
myself), but if any of you would like to donate some money to cover
"optional" components (tape drive, etc.), please send it to me at the

Here's the configuration we should be able to cover without any
additional help:

    Dual P100
    64 MB RAM
    6.4 GB IDE HD
    ISA network card (all I have spare at the moment)
    cheap PCI video card

Any additional money will go toward 1) tape backup, 2) lots of tapes,
3) spiffy 10/100 PCI ethernet card, 4) more RAM, 5) SCSI instead of IDE,
6) bigger disk(s), and (this is real optional) 7) CD-ROM drive(s).
(If you are wondering why I want to go dual P100, I've got three P100
CPUs I'm not using at the moment.  I have a motherboard for one, but
since I'm not actually using it, that gives me two plus a spare.)

If I can get everything in the next week, we can use it at next
Saturday's InstallFest up here as a server.
