Thank you for the help Kara. Instead of using the \u@... to get the
username to show I had to put $USER. Works great now.

Take a look at your /etc/bashrc. There should be a line in it that looks
something like this:
PS1="[\u@\h \W]\\$ "
Play with that line, to get what you need.
