needing input

got a problem.

im getting an apartment with 2 other guys and we will be getting adsl from
swbell (its in cape girardeau). the dsl plan we are going to get will give
us 5 real ip addresses to work with. i would like to have a linux machine
running as sort of an invisable firewall/router physically separating the
rest of the internet from us. what i mean is the linux box will have 2
netcards in it. one attached to the local lan and the other to the dsl box
swbell gives us. i dont want to do ipmasq if i dont have to as not all
programs and not all games run kosher through that kind of setup. i also
want the linux box inbetween so that i can ensure all ipx and netbeui
traffic stays on the local lan (i know these protocols are not supposed to
go through the dsl box but i want to ensure they have no chance to) and also
i want to be able block all port 137-139 traffic from the outside world.

think this is possible short of writing my own software?

im building the linux box today. im open to distro suggestions. i have a
mandrake 6.1 cd so ill likely start off with that.
