Some Good News/Bad News
Good News: I am taking a position as Systems Administrator with
Penguin Computing (www.penguincomputing.com).
Bad News: They are located in San Francisco.
What this means is that I will no longer be able to run SILUG
(duh). So I am pleading for someone to voluteer to take over for me.
SILUG is one of the oldest LUGs in the nation, and it needs to be kept up.
Not to mention, it is always good to get new blood at the helm.
Steve (the guy that started SILUG) is in Fairview Heights, and has
(sorta) said he would do it, but I don't want him to, because he is
already running TOO MANY groups as is. So you'd be helping him out as
well.
I have a few people in mind that would be good candidates, but I
don't want to limit the field based on my narrow mindedness. If you are
interested in doing it, send a note to me (rfifarek@silug.org) and Steve
(steve@silug.org), and depending on the interest level, we'll go from
there.
On a personal note, it has been an absolute PLEASURE working with
all of you, and I hope that I have done this group a service. This group
has helped me in not only my Linux skills, but my organizational skills,
personal skills, and public speaking skills, and all the while, been a
lot of fun. Thank you for having me :-).
