I agree with other's opion that it is best to keep the lists as they are.
I've used the "only subscribed posters" option, and ran into trouble with
folks who were using systems that gave different return address from what
they had thought. These had changed as their providers (in this case state
agencies) changed their methods.
A little bit of spam is only an irratation. Are there easy ways for you to
edit those messages out of archives? At least then the messages wouldn't
continue to provide advertising for the jerks.
