3c515 card

Has anyone seen/had any problems with a 3com 3c515-TX card?  I found in the Ethernet HOWTO that it wasn't supported, but then the driver is listed in the kernel...  It looks like the driver in the kernel is newer than the HOWTO. 

I put the card in (the only network card -- ISA) and on bootup the kernel reported 0 3c515 cards found.  I added the 'append = "ether=11,300,eth0"' in the lilo conf after booting up and running the supplied utility disk.... still no luck

Is this one of the things that looks like it should work, but just doesn't?
