	It appears that there is some confusion on terminology here.
Xwindows (or more properly referred to as "X"), is a program that
establishes the X protocol, communicates with your video card, etc.  A
window manager (such as fvwm2, WindowMaker, BlackBox, the list goes on and
on) runs on top of X to give it it's nice look.
	As far as stability is concerned, X is very stable by itself.  The
window manager tends to be the less stable, and what causes X as a whole
to crash from time to time.  So, in short, your choice of a window manager
will (in most cases) determine your stability.
