Computing Fabrics
Interesting read on Comuting Fabrics and its immediate implications/
applications at http://www.zdnet.com/pcweek/news/1005/05fab.html. I am
curious as to how Linux would fit into this picture, as Microsoft, SGI,
and HP are already collaborating on how to make this technology a reality.
Would Linux stay the same, providing resources to applications who create
a false-layer computing fabric? Or would a new development project
ignite, allowing Linux to be deployed in this environment?
I speculate that one reason Microsoft would take back their acknowledging
Linux as a threat is if they had the upper hand in the "next wave". If
anyone else has seen articles related to this methodology of networking
computers together, pass along the URLs or book titles.

Chase Phillips
