I seem to recall some discussion about encrypted passwords on the redhat
mailing list. As I recall, samba doesn't use encrypted passwords, but some
versions of Windows default to demanding encrypted passwords. There was an
edit to the registry to allow (force) Windows to allow unencrypted passwords.
Is the new windows machine a win98 machine? My failing memory suggests that
the problem was particular to winNT and win98.
