traceroute confusion

From a shell account on accessus.net, I can telnet/ping the machine at
Kaskaskia college; but from my linux machine via ppp I can't get to it.

From a shell account at accessus.net:

      and given more time, more numbers with *'s

It appears that both get to 204.4.41.174; but from my home machine, it simply
stops!

Does anyone know what is going on?

[Oh, yes, from a ppp account at mountvernon.net; I can ping the
kccn.kc.cc.il.us machine with no trouble.]
