Re: Meeting...

Well, I'd be more than willing to have good topics/demos/talks at every
meeting, and I have had them prepared. But, no one seems to want to show
up, so, I haven't had a chance to give these talks. So, if content is the
problem, I'm kinda ticked because no one has been here to hear my content
except Mark and Shane (since the meeting I spoke a little about the GIMP).
Just as any interest group, it'll fail if there's no interest. Don't
expect to go and get hand-fed a bunch of Linux information in a tutorial
fashion. This isn't a class or a lecture or anything like that. It's a
users' group, which means the users make up the group, and therefore if no
one shows up and contributes, it'll suck, fail, and die. Mark and I can
be a guiding force and do quite a bit, but we can't do everything. We no
longer have an ensomniac like Steve to do everything under the sun, so we
have to have many people helping out. I don't really know where I'm going
with all of this. Basically just that if people want the group to succeed
any further than it has already, participation is a must. And I'm not
asking for people to do huge things. We just need some other people that
are willing to talk about different subjects, do demos, help with Linux
Expos, things like that :D It's not a huge amount of time involved. It's
basically just showing up, and from time to time, talking to the group.
Basically, if no one wants to come, it's no sweat to me. I can stay home,
play with my own Linux box, maybe visit my girlfriend, work on a few of my
other projects...the possibilities are endless as to what I could do with
4 extra hours :D But, I'd really like to see this group take off again.
So, if you're interested, show up tonight. I won't be there, but me not
being there is a rareity. I'm sure it will be interesting if enough
people show up. Thanks for reading this long, senseless post and trying
to make sense of it :D
