connection speed

I am running diald and would like to know at what speed I am
connecting.   Can anyone please tell me where or how I can get this
info.  I have looked in all of the logs that I can think of and can't
find anything.  My ISP says that there are problems with USR 56k modems
working correctly with their system and I would like to see if this only
effects 56k modems or if 28.8 USR modems are effected too.
