I just completed my final Rocky Linux migration, which included a zfs upgrade. This was my virtual host server a.k.a. the mothership. Each step along the way was a nail biter... hoping I wasn't left staring at a boot prompt.
The upgrade was a complete success, including the zfs upgrade w/ kmod. I can only guess whatever issue there was with the kmod has been fixed.
At least it works anyway with the current Rocky Linux kernel:
$ uname -a
Linux bauerhaus 4.18.0-305.7.1.el8_4.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jun 29 19:22:12 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

From recent messages on the zfs-discuss mail list, it appears that the kmod variant of ZFS does not build with the most recent kernels. I confirmed this on my storage server running C8.4 and ZFS 2.0.4. I had to switch from kmod to dkms. The package maintainer is aware of the problem, but hasn't been able to track down the source of the kmod build failure. --Doc - To unsubscribe, send email to majordomo@silug.org with "unsubscribe silug-discuss" in the body. |
