Raspberry Pi expansion
If you're a Raspberry Pi owner and would like to have USB3 and SATA
support (and more), you're in luck:
https://geekworm.aliexpress.com/store/group/Expansion-Board/1048722_501767138.html?spm=a2g1y.12024536.pcShopHead_6101387.1_3_3
All of this stuff can be ordered directly from Geekworm, or indirectly
from Amazon.
I just ordered the X820 expansion board, the black steel case to go with
it, and the 5V/4A (20W) external power supply that powers everything. This
2"H x 4"W x 3"D enclosure provides:
4 USB2 ports
2 USB3 ports
1 Ethernet port (for gig Ethernet, but actually still only about 600MHz)
1 HDMI port
1 audio port
1 microUSB power port
1 slot access to the Pi's IO header
The idea is to bundle a 2.5" SATA SSD with the Pi which will dramatically
improve its disk performance. I believe it must still boot from the
internal microSD card, but it's easy to redirect the root filesystem to
the SDD.
I'm still waiting for the proprietary 20W power supply, but should have it
all ready by the first February SILUG meeting.
