Can you post some of the error messages here ?
It may be, all you need to do is fsck the /var or other partitions .
I'd suggested storing all of your website data in it's own partition, NOT /var, /var is a system level partition.
Something like /data01/www or whatever, but on it's own partition or disk would be best. If that is not possbile , you could NFS mount a partition on a different machine, and server content from the NFS mount, that way.
This is a typical scenario done, with multiple web servers able to share/read/write data from a shared filesystem .
Reply back with some of the errors , and we'll see what we can do ...
