GFS Best practices?

I'm having a pretty hard time with clustering a pair of apache/mysql servers 
with a common share created with GFS.  Does anyone know of a good GFS 
explanation in plain text?  I went through and setup the cluster 
configuration pretty quickly but the GFS file system with the share is 
getting pestersome!!
