Discusson topic - 'add ins' for 'complicated' programming

I would LOVE to migrate some of the apps I have seen in Windoze to Linux,
however I am at a loss as to replacements for some of the 'widgets' that I
have seen used.

Is anyone aware of OS replacements (components or technologies) for:

> An OO 'language' in which to operate? Must have:
  1) Usable editor with object 'awareness' (e.g. name, property, method
validation)
  2) Integrated debugging (e.g. breakpoints, watches)
  3) Integration of various types of code forms & modules (e.g. X forms,
code modules, classes)

> Interfaces to instruments & PLCs (Some RS232, some RS485, some
Ethernet)?

> An embedded graphing tool?

> For that matter, an 'embedding technology'?
