I second that suggestion -- although FC/RHEL's "Rescue" mode
is quite capable.  Don't worry about recovery from Windows.

BTW, I've also gotta test the new EA dump features of
e2fsdump.  If it can preserve all EAs, including ACLs and
SELinux attributes, then that would be ideal.

Dump one full backup (level 0) over the weekend, then do
incrementals (level 2, 4, 6 and 8 for Mon-Thurs,
respectively).    At the end of the week, put in a new disk.

Four (4) discs would then be optimal for a full month.  For
longer term storage, transfer every fourth (monthly) full
backup dump files to a Windows Server and push it to its
off-line media (tape I assume?).

That's a good start.
