Speaking of PCI Wireless cards... I have an older computer in the
basement that I use to run a few ham radio applications. It has an
eBay special WiFi card that talks to the wireless router on the 2nd
floor of our house. The signal strength report isn't great but it's
okay for most things like web browsing, etc. Occasionally I get signal
errors if I do a big file transfer or something that really hammers it
for a few minutes.

Does anyone now of a source for an extension cable that will let me
take the antenna off the back of the PCI card and raise it up into the
floor joists of the ceiling above? Ideally about 10 feet or so would
be nice. The connection problems go away if I temporarily set the
computer on a step ladder to raise the antenna out of the other pile
of equipment, etc. that's beneath my bench.

These antennas use what is basically an SMA type connector except the
chassis connector has a pin instead of a socket in the center and the
cable plug has a socket instead of a pin.
