There's another one called SpyBot (http://www.spybot.info/) that we've
had good luck with. Kara has mentioned another called HijackThis, but
I haven't actually seen it in action.

Definitely a good idea. Also, run them multiple times... Some of
these trojans are particularly hard to get rid of. Scanning with
clamscan ("apt-get install clamav" :) from Linux is always a good idea
too.
Which reminds me (bringing this back on-topic), I wonder if Knoppix
includes clamav. For that matter, I wonder if it include NTFS
support...
