fc2 issues

ok i am trying to do a clean install of FC2 and everything seems to be
working. md5 sums were correct for the isos i have. i have burned it twice
on different burners but i am having the same issue.

this box was previously a debian box, and was running perfectly fine,
however fc2 wont install properly.

everything seems to go ok during the install process, but after the reboot
one of 2 things happens. either it sits at a prompt that says grub (and
nothing else happens) or it floods the screen with messages that say grub.

i have removed all partitions on the drive and created new ones during the
install and have booted up into the "linux rescue" option on install disk 1
to try and setup grub again (with redhat's grub-install script). nothing is
fixed.

i havent yet tried doing a dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda yet, i will try that
tonight after i get home from work as there might be some kind of odd
remnants of the debian install still there.

anyone else have any ideas? ive not really heard of anyone having major
problems with fc2 installation except for the occasional blown up ntfs
partition (which isnt an issue for my file server as there is no need for a
windows installation)

Casey
