You guessed right and my firewall is already set up to have application 
use it.

I mentioned that my Mozilla web browser had to be set up to us the proxy 
server by specifying the host name of squid as well as the port to use.  
It looks like apt.conf is the place to set up the proxy for apt-get 
application and, if so, I need help with that configuration.
