Can anyone suggest a book or more preferably a website that will help me
get a mail server up and running on FC1.

It needs to be , "Documentation for blithering idiots", not just start
smtpd, edit main.cf and master.cf and viola!

Either postfix or qmail, although I hear qmail can be quite daunting.
Actually make that postfix only.
