Yeah, but then you'd be taking a lossy compression and re-encoding to
another lossy compression. The audio quality would probably suck.

If you don't use it, just "rpm -e galeon". That will fix the
dependency problem.
Then you can install xmms-mp3 from freshrpms or rpm.livna.org and
actually use apt. :-)

Those are just regular expressions, but if you have screwed up
dependencies, apt won't run. (Apparently you can tell it to ignore
some problems, but that is just asking for trouble.)
