Re: Certification choices

This fact of life is painfully clear. My AA is almost worthless when it
comes to applying for IT or even entry level admin jobs, which, as you
note, are almost always BS/BA. SWIC won't even accept most of my credits
because they are from a technical school.

I need an "IN" and hopefully will be able to acquire training from that
point. Funny thing, my previous employer, American Airlines, didn't
offer any kind of tuition reimbursement so I had to pursue my part-time
coursework on my own. I would hope that any future employer I might have
would have an education program in place. It always seemed to make sense
to me to help your employees become more educated. Eastern Airlines had
a program as did Space Systems Loral as did Southwestern Bell, but the
worlds largest airline did not.

Anyway, a cert would be more attractive than, "I have taken and passed
college courses in Advanced networking, visual basic, C++, and UNIX
using Linux. For some reason those don't fly well.

My week has not gone well. More bad news today, but that is way off
topic. Anyone who knows me though knows that I'll take a baseball bat to
all this crap until it gives up and I get my way. It's all uphill from
here.
