problem with rh7.3 and bind being firewalled off

i have a rh 7.3 box running bind.  during the install i know i selected 
medium firewall security and thought i selected dns to be open as well, but 
i suppose not.  ip tables is not something im familiar with, but when i try 
using the ip tables manager from webmin it tells me that there was an error 
insmod-ing ip_tables.  i know it has to be a firewalling issue because i can 
dig @localhost just fine, but i cant dig to it from another machine.  i have 
no idea how to open up the dns port short of reinstalling (which i hate to 
do just to open up a single port).

anyone have any suggestions?
