attack of the 30meg print doc

so i'm trying to print pdf docs on a red hat 8.0 system with lpd and a lexmark c710 (remote print server), the whole pdf doc is 2 megs and when i send one page to the printer the queue says i've sent 30 meg (OUCH!), at first i thought it had something to do with ppd files and windows like printer drivers but then Istarted thinking maybe the print subsystem was just getting the ps info and sending it on like it was supposed to, can someone shed some light on this the cold medicine has kind of got me in a fog at this point
