Good question. Ask anyone on IBM's 800 order line and you'll quickly be
told you may have to boot Windows if you ever have to make a trouble
call. If they can't confirm a hardware problem with their Windows
diagnostics, you might have a hard time getting them to fix it under
warranty.

Also, their "F11" recovery scheme only works under Windows.

So I kept Windows 2000 Pro on the original internal hard drive, bought
another 9mm hard drive and installed RHL on it. I keep my warranty (and
a Windows environment when I absolutely must have one) and get to use a
*real* operating system the rest of the time.
