[OT] Farscape
For those of you who haven't heard, Sci-Fi has decided not to renew
Farscape for its promised 5th season. Their lame-ass excuse goes like
this:
There are no bigger fans of Farscape than we here at Sci Fi
Channel," the network said in a press release. "It was one of Sci
Fi's first original series and quickly became a critical and fan
favorite. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts to reach a broader
audience, Farscape has been unable to grow beyond its core fan-base.
That, coupled with the extreme and growing cost of production, has
led to the difficult decision to end the series at the conclusion of
season four.

Of course, all this comes right after Sci-Fi's best ratings ever...

The whole thing sounds rather bogus to me.
Anyway, there are a million web sites with the rest of the story.
Here's a good place to start:

At last count, they were up to something like 14k signatures.
Various cast members and such have been making unscheduled appearances
on irc.scifi.com #farscape. If you are a fan of the show, you might
want to check it out.
If you aren't familiar with Farscape, it is an award-winning show
produced by The Jim Henson Company (yes, as in "The Muppets", although
the Creature Shop has come a long way since The Dark Crystal, but I
digress...) that generally airs on Fridays on the Sci-Fi Channel. It
has consistently been one of the top-rated shows on that network (if
not *the* top-rated show). As it says on Sci-Fi's own web site, TV
Guide called it "the best science-fiction series on TV."
See the official web site and Sci-Fi's site if you want to know more.
