sendmail problem

Maybe I'm just too tired, but this has me confused...

I have a more-or-less stock Red Hat 7.3 box.  For some strange reason,
sendmail on that box just ignores MX records.  For example, when I try
to send mail to myself from there, it wants to send to the host
silug.org (the web server), not mx1.lanscape.net.

Obviously, this causes some problems with mail delivery.  :-)

Can anyone think of a misconfiguration somewhere that could cause this
symptom?
